By Gary Petit ATLANTA, Ga. No.10-ranked Ohio Northern fell to Birmingham Southern (Ala.) Saturday afternoon 3-0 to finish the Emory (Ga.) Invitationl with a 1-2 mark. The Bears fall to 24-6 on the season as Birmingham Southern improves to an impressive 29-3 overall. ONU was led by sophomore Renee Berry, who hit .417 with five kills, 11 digs and two service aces. Fellow sophomore Liz Schnelle chipped in with a team-high 14 kills. Libero Mandi Fought led three Polar Bears with double-digits digs with 13. Laura Vuyk added 12 to go along with Berry’s 11. Setter Katie Weininger has 33 assists and five kills. Friday, ONU swept Randolph Macon and fell to host No. 9 Emory in four games. The Bears will return home to begin the OAC Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 30, where they will be the No. 1-seed and host Marietta at 7 pm. |
