Annette Shepherd is in her fifth season as the head softball coach at Ohio Northern University.

Shepherd is only the third head coach in the 33-year history of the softball program.

She is also a lecturer in the ONU human performance and sport sciences department.

Shepherd served as interim head softball coach in 2004 and as an assistant with the ONU softball team from 2001-03.

She played softball at the University of Maryland and helped the Terps to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship as team captain in 1997.

She batted leadoff and played first base for the Terrapins and was voted the Academic Player of the Year at Maryland in 1997.

Served as assistant softball coach at ONU from 2001-03.
She also played for one year at Shippensburg State in 1995 and played two years at Miami (Ohio) in 1993 and 1994.

She was an assistant basketball and softball coach at Seneca Valley (Md.) High School in 1998 and 1999 where she taught special education classes.

She also played on the United States Kayak/Polo Team in 2000.

She resides near Ada with her husband, Jeremy, and their daughter Skye.

Education: Shepherd graduated from Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in 1997 and received her master’s degree from Frostburg State (Md.) in 2003.

Assistant Coach Jeremy Shepherd Assistant Coach Jamie Snee

Jeremy Shepherd is in his fifth season as assistant softball coach at Ohio Northern University.

Shepherd served as a volunteer assistant coach at ONU in 2003.

He came to Ohio Northern after two seasons as head baseball coach at Wapakoneta Junior High in 2001 and 2002.

The McGuffey, Ohio, native also served as an assistant varsity baseball coach at his alma mater, Upper Scioto Valley High School, from 1996-97.

Shepherd is currently working on his bachelor's degree at Ohio Northern.

He resides near Ada with his wife, Annette, who is the head softball coach at ONU.

Jamie comes to Ohio Northern from Muskingum College where she graduated in 2007 cum laude with a math major and chemistry and religion minors.

She is currently enrolled in the ONU Law School where she hopes to specialize in Sports Law.  

Jamie’s softball experience makes her a great addition to te program as Coach for Pitchers and Catchers.

A catcher “by trade”, Jamie played varsity for Muskingum, making the trip to the Division III World Series in 2005 and already has two years of coaching experience as an assistant JV coach at Muskingum.  

She has been a catching instructor for three years and is using her knowledge and experience to work with our pitchers and catchers to improve their mechanics and learn the key parts of being a successful battery.  

Jamie is from North Canton, Ohio where she attended Jackson High School.

Assistant Coach Mark Batman

Mark Batman is in his fifth season as assistant softball coach at Ohio Northern University.

Batman also serves as head women's soccer coach and a lecturer in ONU’s Human Performance and Sport Studies department.

Batman comes to Ohio Northern after assistant soccer coaching stints at Savannah (Ga.) Arts and Design, Dubuque (Iowa) and his alma mater, Wilmington.

The Yellow Springs, Ohio, native served as assistant men’s soccer coach and assistant sports information director at Savannah A&D last year.

From 2001-02, Batman was a graduate assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Dubuque and served as assistant men’s soccer coach at Wilmington in 2000.

He graduated from Wilmington with the BS degree in sports management from Wilmington in 2000 and earned the MA degree in physical education from Loras (Iowa) in 2003.
