Sumer Rohrs
Frostburg State
Summer Rohrs set the ONU Sports Center record and posted the fastest time in the nation this year to win the women’s 55-meter hurdles title Saturday afternoon.

Her time of 7.96 seconds bettered the Sports Center record of 7.99 seconds, set in 1999 by Paulette Baldwin of Lehman College.

Amy Magnuson of Massachusetts Institute of Technology was second in 8.01, Holly Andrews of Nebraska Wesleyan was third in 8.12 and Kristen bates of Messiah was fourth in 8.18.

“To get to the first hurdle first – that set the pace and I took it from there. I just finished rehabbing in December from an injury. I’ve got a brand-new coach – he’s taken me to new heights.” -- Sumer Rohrs, Frostburg State

Amanda LaRocca of Illinois Wesleyan was fifth in 8.34, Lauren Rausch of Otterbein was sixth in 8.35, Brandye Jackson of North Central was seventh in 8.37 and Lauren Bucklin Simpson was eighth in 8.38.

Rohrs also won the 2007 NCAA title as a sophomore and was sixth in 2006 as a freshman.
