Sophomore Judy Bataille of Heidelberg College had perhaps the best day of her life Saturday as she set a fieldhouse record, beat the DIII season’s best time and won a national championship in the women’s 55-meter dash at the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the ONU Sportscenter.

Bataille, making her first appearance at the championships, beat three 2007 All-Americans with a time of seven seconds flat to become the best in the nation.

“I’ve had a pretty good year and I’ve ran pretty well but I had problems with my starts so I just focused on my basics. I came in hoping to win it all and I’m just so excited that I did it.” -- Judy Bataille, Heidelberg
Senior and two-time All-American Lauren Deas of Cabrini College took second place (7.10) and Buffalo State sophomore LaToya D. Edwards took third (7.12) to finish out the top three.

Jodyann Raymond, a senior of the City College of New York took fourth (7.16) as 2007 All-American Keli Coleman of Augustana (Illinois) finished fifth.

New Jersey City University junior Ebony Barnes took sixth (7.19), Emory University freshman Jami Edwards took seventh (7.23) and sophomore Christiana Taylor of Cabrini College took eighth (7.31).
