Jennifer Adams, Keene State
In her first appearence at the championships, Jennifer Adams won the 5000-meter run title at the NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the ONU Sports Center on Saturday.

Adams, a senior at Keene State, crossed the finish line at 16:58.71, crushing the ONU Sports Center record of 17:07.80 set in 1999 by Emily Richard of Washington (Mo.)

Both Adams and second place finisher Becca Jordahl, a freshman from Wisconsin-River Falls, led the race, battling back and forth for more than half of the event. With nine laps to go, Adams began to take pull away. At the finish line, Adams had an overwhelming lead, almost four seconds ahead of Jordahl in second.

Jordahl was clocked iat 17:02.89. Freshman Wendy Pavlus of St. Lawrence finished third (17:16.78), senior Esther Erb of Case Western Reserve finished fourth (17:17.21), and sophomore Anna Kraayenbrink of Wartburg finished fifth (17:22.80).

Junior Alexandra Krieg of Middlebury finished sixth in 17:25.11. Following close behind were Amherst runners Elise Tropiano (Jr.) in seventh in 17:30.89 and Heather Wilson (Sr.) in eighth in 17:33.43.
