Illinois Wesleyan’s Rachel Anderson dominated from the opening gun and won her third consecutive national championship in the women’s 400-meter dash.

She also won the 2006 and 2007 titles indoors and the 2006 crown outdoors. Anderson is now a 7-time All-American in the event.

She set a ONU Sports Center record and ran the fastest time in the nation this season, crossing the finish line in 55.66 seconds.

Liz Kooistra of Wisconsin-Eau Claire was second in 56.27, Hannah Baker of Wartburg was third in 56.73 and Robin Yerkes of Roanoke was fourth in 56.74.

Rounding out the list of 2008 All-Americans was Ashley Graybill of St. Norbert in fifth in 56.93, Staci Jackson of Texas Lutheran in sixth in 57.03, Chizoba Ezeigew of Wheaton (Mass.) in seventh in 57.37 and Ashley Williams of Texas Lutheran in eighth in 57.77.

Anderson will now run the anchor leg of the Illinois Wesleyan 4x400-meter relay team later on Saturday.
