Bobby Riley
Wisconsin-La Crosse
Wisconson-La Crosse junior Bobby Riley arrived as the defending champion in the men’s shot put and that’s how he left. Riley won with a throw of 55-7 at this the 2008 NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the ONU Sportscenter.

Bridgewater junior Nathan Turner was the national runner-up (55-0.75) while Brockport SUNY senior Josh Dupuis placed third (55.0).

Montclair State junior Eugene Asimou took fourth (54-9.5) followed by Mount Union senior Dan Gund who placed fifth (54-8.75).

“This feels great being a two-time champion. Last year was awesome on it’s own, but this gives it much more meaning. I didn’t really change anything in my preparation. I tried to keep it as consistant as I could. Last year at the outdoor national championship, I placed second. That fired me up because I wanted to prove everyone that I should have won that one as well. The throw that ended up winning it for me didn’t feel any different than any other throw. It looked good and that’s what it ended up being. It’s an awesome feeling being a champion again.” -- Bobby Riley, Wisconsin-La Crosse
Sixth place went to St. Lawrence senior Geoff Grambo (54-3.75) and St. Olaf sophomore John Schantzen placed seventh (53-3.5).

The final All-American and eighth place went to Haverford senior Joeseph Awantang (52-5.25).

Because of their placing this year, Riley and Dupuis became three-time All-Americans. Gund and Turner earned their second All-Americans honors, as well.
