With an extra burst on the last half of the men’s 400-meter dash, McMurry junior Hanneus Ollison became the national champion of this year’s NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the ONU Sportscenter.

After a lengthy protest concerning a disqualification, it was decided that Ollison had won the championship. His winning time of 48.61 was a season-best for him.

Monmouth College junior Luke Reschke is this year’s national runner-up (49.51) and third place went to Elizabethtown senior Drew Graybeal (49.56).

“This feels good to be national champion. It took a lot of hard work this season. Coming off of an injury, I’m just happy to be here. I went down with an ankle injury the third week of the indoor season and I had to sit out about three and a half weeks. I am just glad to be back. Going into the second lapof the race, I got it in my mind that I had to kick it in and go. I had to just fight through all the pain. Guy Dierikx of Central (Ia.) placed fourth for the second year in a row earning him his second All-American honor (49.57).

Fifth place went to Illinois Wesleyan senior Mathew Harden (49.62) and sixth place went to Wisconson La Crosse sophomore David Kolbe.

Placing seventh was Freddy Linton of Emory University (50.09) and the eighth place went to Nebraska Wesleyan senior Chris Wolf.
