May 3, 2008 By Gary Petit ADA Jacob Weyrauch tied his personal-best and NCAA Provisional mark in the pole vault to lead the Ohio Northern men’s track & field team to first at the weather-shortened Joe Banks Invitational Saturday, at the ONU Track & Field Complex. Weyrauch’s mark of 15-5 ties his Ohio Athletic Conference Championship winning mark which he set last weekend. He then had three strong efforts at clearing 15-9.25 but could not make a clean vault. Junior J.T. Perez also had a good showing in the pole vault, clearing a career-best 15-0. He too had good efforts at the NCAA provisional mark of 15-5 but fell short. Freshman Andrew Lammers turned in his best vault of the season at 14-6. In the 400-meter dash, freshmen Garrett Brown and Shane Huntley ran the teams third and fourth fastest times of the season at 51.20 and 51.56, resepctively. Both times are also personal-bests for each runner. Sophomore Anthony Thomas posted a season-best heave of 127-10 in the discus to take second. He also finished fifth in the javelin and sixth in the hammer throw. Members of the Ohio Northern men’s track & field team will head to the first of two North Central (Ill.) Last Chance Meets next Thursday and Friday, May 8-9. |
