Polar Bears stay perfect in OAC with 8-1 win over Wilmington

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern men’s tennis team held a close 2-1 lead after doubles but was perfect in singles competition for an 8-1 victory at Wilmington Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Polar Bears move to 8-4, 4-0 and the Quakers slip to 3-4, 1-2.

Seniors Micah Scott and Bart Schenck earned their 15th win at No. 1 doubles 8-1.

Juniors Chris Dohner and Ryan Paul won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles for their seventh win of the year.

Scott earned his team-leading 11th victory 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.

Schenck won for the eighth time this year 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.

Junior Chris Dohner won at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.

Junior Kyle Webb won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Senior Todd Anderson won in a tie-breaker 6-4, 5-7, 10-3.

Freshman and Wilmington native Jeff Carter ended the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Scott, Schenck and Dohner are all 4-0 in OAC competition and Webb, Anderson and Carter have not lost in OAC competition this season.

The Polar Bears will try to remain undefeated in the OAC when they return to action at Muskingum on Saturday at 1p.m.
