Ohio Northern shuts out Capital

By Mike Seem ADA No. 1 seed Ohio Northern men’s tennis team advanced to the semifinals in the Ohio Athletic ConferenceWednesday afternoon after beating No. 8 seed Capital 5-0. With the victory the Polar Bears improve to 15-4, and the Crusaders fall to 4-13. Seniors Micah Scott and Bart Schenck earned their 21st victory this season at No. 1 doubles 8-1. Juniors Ryan Paul and Jay Vaidya won at No. 2 doubles 8-5 and senior Thomas Major and freshman Jeff Carter completed the sweep in doubles competition with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. Scott went on to win at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Schenck completed the shutout with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. Paul also won at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2. The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday at 9 a.m. against No. 4 John Carroll at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. |
