Polar Bears knock off Division I foe Mt. St. Mary's (Md.) 6-1

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team defeated NCAA Division I for Mount Saint Mary's (Md.) 6-1 Tuesday afternoon on its spring break trip.

The Polar Bears improve to 2-1, while the Mountaineers fall to 3-5.

Seniors Micah Scott and Bart Schenck led the Polar Bears with victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles.

Scott won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Schenck won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

The duo also combined to win at No. 1 doubles by an 8-2 count.

Junior Ryan Paul won 6-02, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and he joined senior Chris Dohner to win 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.

Senior Kyle Webb won by medical default at No. 5 singles. The match was tied 4-6, 6-4 when Mountaineer foe Rob Dupaya widthdrew due to injury.

Senior Todd Anderson won at No. 6 singles by a 7-6(5), 7-5 count.

The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday morning at Webber International (Fla.) at 9 am.
