Polar Bears move to 2-0 in OAC with 9-0 victory over Marietta

ADA — The Ohio Northern men’s tennis team followed Monday’s shutout over John Carroll with a perfect 9-0 victory over Marietta Wednesday at the ONU Sports Center.

With the victory, Ohio Northern improves to 5-3 (2-0), while Marietta falls to 0-1 (0-1).

Seniors Micah Scott and Bart Schenck improved to 7-1 at No. 1 doubles, winning today’s match 8-1.

Juniors Chris Dohner and Ryan Paul cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, and seniors Thomas Major and Todd Anderson also won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Scott won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Schenck won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Paul won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Junior Kyle Webb won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

Scott, Schenck, Paul and Webb are tied for the team lead in singles competition wins with five, and all are 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference competition.

Dohner earned his third victory in singles competition posting a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Kyle Barnaba improved to 2-1 on the season, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

The Polar Bears return to action Tuesday at OAC-rival Capital at 3:30 p.m. in Columbus.
