Peggy Ewald
Peggy Ewald is in her third season as head coach of the Ohio Northern men's and women's swimming and diving programs.

She also serves as assistant facility manager and as a lecturer at ONU. Ewald is the first full-time swimming and diving coach in ONU history.

In her first two seasons at the helm of the program, Ewald led the men's team to the OAC Championship, earning OAC Men's Coach of the Year honors in 2005 and the OAC Women's Coach of the Year award in 2006.

The women's team placed third at the OAC Championships in Ewald's first two seasons.

Ewald is not a stranger to the Polar Bear swimming programs, as she served as an assistant coach in 2003-04.

She comes to ONU with impressive coaching credentials.

Ewald is a Level 4 ASCA certified swimming coach and has 13 years of coaching experience working with novice to National Champions.

She was head coach of Tiffin Columbian High School from 1997-2004, was head coach of Tiffin Calvert High School from 2001-2004 where she coached six Ohio High School State placers.

She also served as an assistant coach at the University of Findlay from 1997-99. She coached with the Tiffin YMCA swim team and for many years took athletes to the YMCA National level.

She also is the founder of the USA Swimming club team Seneca Aquatic Klub team, where she has coached swimmers in the Senior National, US Open and two current members of the US paralympic Team.

She also coached with the USA Swimming FAST age-group swim team in Findlay for five years.

The Tiffin, Ohio, native also worked as the Dean of Academic Affairs at AEC-Southern Ohio College in Findlay from 2001-04 and owned and directed the Ohio Institute of Electrology in Tiffin from 1982-2001.

She received her bachelor's degree in business administration with honors from Tiffin University in 1989 and earned the master's degree in education from Heidelberg College in 1996.

Ewald is married to Dan Ewald and they have three children; Ellen a Heidelberg Graduate, Jessica a senior at Ohio Northern and Jacob, a graduate of DeVry Institute in Columbus.

Student Assistant Coach Russell Hunt Assistant Diving Coach Tiffany Patterson

Assistant Swimming Coach Russell Hunt is a second year Law student in the Pettit College of Law and is in his second season as an assistant swimming coach with Ohio Northern. 

Russell joins the staff after a decorated career at Kenyon College where he was a member of several national championship teams and relays, an individual national champion in the 100 yard backstroke, a 17 time All-American and is the national record holder in the 400 yard medley relay. 

Russell is the oldest of 10 children and hails from Columbus, Ohio, where he attended Upper Arlington High School.

Volunteer Assistant Diving Coach Tiffany Patterson is in her third season as an assistant coach for the Ohio Northern Swimming and Diving program after a year off for completing her sixth year of pharmacy. 

She both swam and dove for Ohio Northern from 2000-2003 serving as diving captain in 2003 and assistant coach in 2004. 

The Muncie, IN native earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2005 from Ohio Northern and is a licensed pharmacist for Walgreen’s in Dayton.
