Ohio Northern routs Wilmington in OAC opener |

Oct. 26, 2007 By Joanna West WILMINGTON The Ohio Northern men kicked off the OAC season in style winning every event in a 162-43 rout of Wilmington Friday night. Freshman Michael Shultz lead the Polar Bears by placing first in two events, the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:07.97 and the 400m freestyle in 4:30.26. Several first and second place finished were captured, inlcuding Michael Shultz and sophomore Andrew Stephon in the 200m freestyle, freshman John Fusco and senior John Miller in th 50m freestlye, sophomore Bill Neidinger and freshman Nick Swint in the 100m fly. Junior Brett Kuhn, John Miller and freshman Derek Smoody went 1-2-3 in the 100m free, freshman Garrett Dauch and John Fusco placed 1-2 in the 100m back, Michael Schultz and freshman Jacob Andreason finished 1-2 in the 400m free, and senior Mike Anderson and Jeb Deal took the top two places in the 100m breststroke. The Polar Bears swam to 1-2-3 finishes in the 200m medlely relay, lead by the team of Dauch, freshman Ryan Oberst, Anderson, and Fusco. Kuhn, Smoody, Stephon, and freshman Andre Velez teamed up to win the final event of the meet the 200m freestyle relay. The Polar Bears are now 1-0 in the OAC. The return to action on Saturday, October 27 at Ohio Northern Sports Center Natatorium against OAC rival John Carroll University. |
