Polar Bears build big lead on Day 2 of OAC Championships

AKRON — The Ohio Northern men’s swimming and diving continued to break records on Day 2 of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the University of Akron.

OAC Champ and NCAA qaulifer Michael Schutlz won the 100 fly in 52.36. Schultz broke the ONU school record during prelims with a time of 52.25.

Nick Swint earned All-OAC honors by finishing third in 400IM in 4:24.17. Dan Henry was fifth in 4:25. 93 and Casey Davis was sixth in 4:27.40.

Brett Kuhn also earned All-OAC honors in the 200 free by finishing second in 1:45.66. Andrew Stephon was fifth in 1:49.23 and John Fusco was sixth with a time of 1:49.26.

Mike Anderson earned All-OAC honors by finishing second in the 100 breast in 1:00.45 as did Jeb Deal by coming in third with a time of 1:00.98. Ryan Oberst scored points coming in fifth in 1:01.14.

Garret Dauch earned All-OAC honors in the 100 back by finishing third in 56.50.

Diver George Chesney also earned OAC honors and qualified for the NCAAs in the 3 meter event with 448.10 points.

Bill Neidinger posted points in 100 fly finishing sixth in 55.09 and John Miller scored eighth place points with a time of 56.29.

Schultz, Davis, Stephon, and Fusco became OAC Champions and broke the ONU school record in the 800 free relay in 7:13.39.

Anderson, Ryan Oberst, Kuhn, and Schultz earned All-OAC honors by finishing second in the 200 medley relay in 1:38.79.

The Polar Bears are in the lead with 206 points followed at a distance by Baldwin-Wallace with 136 points and Mount Union with 107.
