Polar Bears clinch OAC Regular Season title with 151-72 win at Mt Union

ALLIANCE— The Ohio Northern men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Ohio Athletic Conference foe Mount Union Saturday to clinch a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season titles.

The Polar Bear men (4-2 overall, 3-0 OAC) topped the Purple Raiders 157-72 by winning 11 of 16 events to clinch their second consecutive title.

Several double event winners contributed to the win. Brett Kuhn won the 50 free in 22.51 and 100 free in 49.41.

Michael Schultz also had two first places winning the 1000 free in 10:13.07 and the 500 free in 5:02.43.

George Chesney also jumped into the double winner circle, winning the 1-meter dive with 157.30 points and the 3-meter dive with 252.80 points.

Garrett Dauch won the 200 free in 1:52.28, John Miller won the 100 fly in 56.97 and Bill Neidinger was second in the event with a time of 57.22.

Mike Anderson was first in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:04.27.

ONU also won both relays to seal the OAC Regular Season title. Dauch, Anderson, Miller, and Kuhn teamed up in the 200 medlay to finish first in 1:42.35.

Dauch and Miller later teamed up with Shultz and Andrew Stephon to win the 200 free in 1:133.69.

The Polar Bears return to action on Friday at 1 pm against Case Western Reserve in their annual Swim for Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser and Senior Recognition Day at the ONU Sports Center Natatorim.
