George Chesney surpasses NCAA cut in 3-meter diving at Kenyon |

Nov. 2, 2007 By Tim Glon KENYON Junior George Chesney surpassed the NCAA cut in the 3-meter diving competition, leading the Ohio Northern men’s swimming and diving team at Kenyon Friday night at the KAC Natatorium. The defending NCAA champion Lords (2-0) topped the Polar Bear men (2-1) 140-99. Chesney swept the diving events, winning the 3-meter with an NCAA qualifying mark of 307.43 points, and winning the 1-meter with 232.28 points. Junior Brett Kuhn also won two events, claiming the 100 and 200 freestyle events in 49.17 and 1:49.00, respectively. Freshman Garret Dauch won the 200 back in 2:04.27. Three freshmen also posted second place finishes. Michael Schultz was second in the 1,000 free in 10:12.17, Adam Lill was second in the 50 free and Ryan Oberst was second in the 200 breast. Both Ohio Northern teams will return to action Saturday when they host Wooster at 1 pm at the ONU Sports Center. |
