ADA — Junior Ryan Smith (Miamisburg) earned National Soccer Coaches Association Academic Scholar All-East Region honors in voting conducted by regional committee members.

Smith also earned CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-District honors as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Along with his Academic All-District award, Smith was named First Team Academic All-OAC for first time in his career. He was also named First Team All-OAC each of the last two seasons and was named the OAC Co-Defender of the Year in 2006.

Smith scored his first collegiate goal in a 6-1 win at Mount Union on Oct. 20. He also added two assists this season and was a key reason why the ONU defense recorded six shutouts on the year.

ONU finished the season with a 14-6-2 overall record and a 5-2-2 mark in the OAC. Tenth-year head coach Brent Ridenour led the Bears to a return trip to the OAC Tournament and bowed out in the semifinals.
