BEXLEY — The 14th ranked Capital men's soccer team won their first ever OAC Tournament game in a 4-3 offensive barage over Ohio Northern Wednesday in an Ohio Athletic Conference semifinal game.

The win sends Capital (15-1-3) into the OAC Championship match Saturday against John Carroll, who defeated Heidelberg 2-1 in overtime. With the loss, the Bears finish the season at 14-6-2.

The three Polar Bear goals were the most Capital has given up in any one game this season.

Capital took the early lead when Steve McCarthy scored his 13th goal of the season off an assist from Heath Oberle just 5:15 into the game.

The Crusaders extended their lead nine minutes later when McCarthy finished a shot off of an initial save from ONU's Ben Huntley.

ONU responded at the 16:27 mark as sophomore Dan Otanicar dribbled through a couple of Crusader defenders and laced a shot inside the far post, out of the reach of Capital keeper John Snyder.

The Bears continued the comback in the 28th minute when freshman Chaz McCullah knocked in a lose ball in front of the net to even the score at 2-2.

At the 32:38 mark, after a Capital handball, junior Adam Ross took the free kick and nailed a perfectly placed ball into the upper lefthand corner of the net. The goal was Ross' ninth of the season and gave the Bears a 3-2 lead.

The score stayed that way into the half.

In the second half, Capital tied the game in the 62nd minute when Tyler Mowbray scored on a loose ball in front of the net.

With the game tied, Cory Trump took a pass from Joey Snyder and placed it over Huntley's reach for the game-winner.

Snyder ended the game with 12 saves while Huntley stopped four shots. ONU outshot Capital 20-12, but the Crusaders were the more aggressive when it matter in the second half.
