ADA — Ohio Northern senior wing Kyle Gehle (Versailles), junior post Jake Cannan (Dublin /Coffman) and sophomore post Kyle Meyer (Columbus Grove) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men’s basketball for the 2007-08 season.

Gehle was a Second Team honoree, while Cannan and Meyer were on the Honorable Mention All-OAC squad.

Gehle led the Polar Bears in scoring at 16.1 ppg and in made 3-pointers with 63.

In his 104-game career, Gehle scored 1,250 points, ranking him 16th all-time at ONU. He also ranks eighth with 171 made 3-pointers.

In his four years at Ohio Northern, Gehle helped the Polar Bears to an impressive 69-37 record.

Cannan led ONU in rebounding (8.1 rpg) and blocked shots (35) and was second in scoring at 13.0 ppg. He had eight double-doubles in 2007-08 and was second on the team with a .541 field goal percentage.

He will enter his senior season ranked No. 1 on ONU’s all-time career field goal percentage list at .576 and ranked No. 8 on the blocked shots list with 58.

Meyer finished the year third in scoring at 12.5 ppg and second in rebounding at 5.6 rpg.

He also just missed breaking ONU’s single-season field goal shooting percentage. His .651 shooting percentage from the floor was just under the school-record .658 posted in 2002-03 by Sam Mikolajewski.

Ohio Northern posted its 18th consecutive winning season with a 15-12 record in 2007-08 and ONU finished fourth in the OAC with a 10-8 mark. Northern has now finished fourth or higher in the OAC 14 straight times and 15 times in the past 16 seasons.

The Polar Bears also reached the OAC Tournament semifinals for the 12th time in the last 16 seasons.

Northern is now 55-25 under third-year head coach Jeff Coleman.
