By Gary Petit LAKE WALES, Fla. Senior Dan Brodnik carded a 79 to pace the Ohio Northern men's golf team as it fell to NAIA Warner Southern (Fla.) Thursday in the Royal Mid-Winter Shootout at Oakwood Golf Club. The Royals carded a 295 while Northern's top-six put together a 329. Brodnik 's 79 was good enough for sixth in the 26-man field. Sophomore Joel Metzner carded and 80 to finished tied for seventh while junior Andrew Rahrig posted an 84 and a tie for 12th. Rounding out the Polar Bear scorers were junior Ben Kretz with an 86, freshman Tom Repicky with an 87 and senior Wes Immler with an 89. Playing as individuals, seniors Brock Prater and Chase Cummings carded rounds of 81 and 84, respectively. Warner Southern's Chad Ballantyne carded a 5-under 67 to take medalist honors. His 67 and eight-shot victory were both Royal Mid-Winter Shootout records. The Polar Bears will next be in action on March 28-29 at the Muskingum Invitational at Eaglesticks Golf Club. |
