By Tim Glon ADA — Wes Immler and Andrew Rahrig each fired four-over par 76s to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a second place finish in a tri-match with Heidelberg and Defiance Wednesday afternoon at the Colonial Golfers Club. Immler, Rahig and Heidelberg's Zack Koinis tied for first place with their 76s. Immler won Medalist honors in the 26-man field via the hole-by-hole tiebreaker. Heidelberg won the team title with a 313, Ohio Northern was second with a 318, the Ohio Northern B team was third with a 319, Defiance was fourth with a 327 and Heidelberg's B squad was fifth with a 359. Dan Brodnik carded a 10-over par 82 on the 6,886-yard course to finish tied for 12th, Ben Kretz had an 84 to finish 16th and Tom Repicky had an 87 to finish 19th for ONU. The ONU B team was led by Chase Cummings, who finished tied for fourth with a 78. Paul Morbitzer was seventh with a 79, Phil Makowski was ninth with an 80, Kevin Duffy was 12th with an 82 and Brock Prater was 13th with an 83. In a side competition, Heidelberg edged Ohio Northern 3-2 in a match play contest. Immler defeated Chad Waleryszak 6&5 to give the Polar Bears their only win. Heidelberg won two of the matches as Kevin Lenhart topped Tom Repicky 7&6 and Zak markley defeated Ben Kretz 3&2. The two teams halved two of the five matches. Rahrig and Koinis tied, as did ONU's Dan Brodnik and HC's David Lilly. Ohio Northern will be back in action on Sunday and Monday at the Mount Union Fall Invitational.
