By Tim Glon ZANESVILLE The Ohio Northern men’s golf team finished fourth out of nine teams at the Muskingum Invitational Friday-Saturday at the EagleSticks Golf Club. The Polar Bears (25-26-1 overall) finished with a 303-308611. Junior Ben Kretz fired a 75-74149 to finish tenth out of 66 golfers on the 6,508-yard, par-70 course. Junior Andrew Rahrig was 14th with a 76-75151, senior Chase Cummings was 17th with a 71-81152, and seniors Wes Immler (84-78162) and Dan Brodnik (81-81162) tied for 42nd. Cummings fired a career-low 1-over par 71 in the first round on Friday, which is the third-lowest round in ONU men’s golf history. Mount Union won the team title with a 299-286585m Rochester (N.Y.) was second with a 296-303599 and Muskingum was third with a 305-297602. Rochester’s Stephen Goodrich fired a 71-70141 to win medalist honors. He defeated Jason Nussbaum of Mount Union (73-68141) in a playoff. The Polar Bears will return to action next Friday-Saturday at the Capital Invitational. |
