Polar Bears finish fifth at Mt. Union Fall Invite |

By Gary Petit ALLIANCE - The Ohio Northern men’s golf team finished fifth at the Mount Union Fall Invitational Monday played at Tannenhauf Golf Course and Alliance Country Club. The Bears shot a season-low round of 305 on day one at Tannenhauf and followed that with a 314 at Alliance for a 619 total. ONU was two shots back of Urbana in fourth at 617. Senior Wes Immler and freshman Tom Repicky led ONU with matching 151 totals and ninth place finishes. Immler carded rounds of 77-74 and Repicky fired rounds of 74-77. Repicky was tied for first in the tournament in par-3 scoring at 2.98 (-1). Junior Andrew Rahrig carded rounds of 76-81157 for a tie for 24th. Seniors Dan Brodnik and Ben Kretz finished with 160 and 165 totals respectively. Brodnik carded rounds of 78-82 for a tie for 32nd and Kretz finished tied for 44th with rounds of 78-87. Chase Cummings played as an individual and carded rounds of 80-85165. John Carroll won the team title with a 294 on day one and a 301 on day two for a 595 total. Despite an even par round of 288 on day one, Mount Union finished in a tie for second with Baldwin-Wallace at 598. John Carroll’s Kevin Bove, playing as an individual, played two solid rounds to finish with a 3-over par total of 145 (73-72) and finished tied teammate Joey Buescher and Mount Union Jason Nussbaum. Bove won the playoff and took medalist honors. The Polar Bears will return to action this Sunday when they will host the ONU Invitational at the Colonial Golfers Club beginning at 11 am. |
