Men's Golf finishes fifth out of 11 teams at Capital Invitational |

By Tim Glon LOCKBOURNE The Ohio Northern men’s golf team posted a fifth place finish at the 11-team Capital Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Polar Bears (31-30-1 overall) carded a 336 on the 7,077-yard, par 72, Players Course in the second round on Saturday to finish in fifth place. Ohio Dominican won the team title with a 309-307616, Mount Vernon Nazarene was second with a 311-315626, Walsh was third with a 303-328631, Capital was fourth with a 317-321638 and Ohio Northern was fifth with a 305-336641. Junior Ben Kretz, coming off a ninth place showing last week at the Muskingum Invitational, carded a 74-80154 to finish tied for sixth place to pace Ohio Northern. Northern was second after the first round on the easier 6,891-yard, par-72 Foxfire course on Friday with a 303, led by a career-low 73 by junior Joel Metzker. Metzker and senior Wes Immler tied for 30th. Metzker fired a 73-90163 and Immler carded an 82-81163. Senior Brock Prater was 37th with a 78-87165 and freshman Tom Repicky was 47th with an 80-88168. The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday at the Defiance Invitational at the Kettenring Golf Course. |
