O'Brien earns All-America honors as No. 13 Men's XC finishes 11th at NCAA Championships

HANOVER, Ind. -- Senior Jimmy O'Brien earned All-America honors for the second consecutive year, leading the No. 13-ranked Ohio Northern men's cross country team to an 11th place finish at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships Saturday morning at on the campus of Hanover College.

The Polar Bears (157-23) finished with 284 points in the 32-team field.

ADA — The No. 13-ranked Ohio Northern men's cross country team will compete at the NCAA III National Championships this Saturday at 11 am at Hanover, Ind.

The Polar Bears (136-13) are making their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships.

Last season, ONU finished 17th at the championships in Minneapolis, Minn. ONU was 32nd at the 2006 NCAA Championships at Wilmington.

ADA — The Ohio Northern men’s cross country team (104-12) moved up three spots to No. 14 in the eighth weekly United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, released Wednesday.

The Polar Bears were ranked No. 17 in the sixth and seventh polls, No. 20 in the fifth poll, No. 12 in the fourth poll, No. 14 in the third poll, No. 13 in the first and second polls and were No. 9 in the USTFCCCA preseason poll.
