Women's Basketball to open 2008-09 slate at Trine (Ind.) Tip-Off Tournament

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team will open its 2008-09 season Nov. 21-22 at the Trine (Ind.) Tip-Off Tournament in Algola, Ind.

The Polar Bears, under eighth-year head coach Michele Durand, will also play at the Land of Magic Classic at Daytona Beach, Fla. Dec. 28-29.

Northern will open its home schedule Nov. 25 against Wittenberg in a non-conference contest at 7:30 pm at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears will also travel to Adrian (Mich.) on Dec. 3 and to Northwestern Ohio on Dec. 16 in addition to its double round-robin OAC slate.

Ohio Northern posted a 19-7 overall record in 2007-08 and finished second in the OAC with a 14-4 mark.

Trine University is the former Tri-State University in Angola, Ind. The school will change its name officially on Aug. 1, 2008.

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team will open its 2008-09 season Nov. 21-22 at the Mount Saint Joesph Tournament in Cincinnati.

The Polar Bears, under fourth-year head coach Jeff Coleman, will also play at the DePauw (Ind.) Tournament Nov. 29-30 and at the Surf N' Slam San Diego Tournament Dec. 27-28 at San Diego, Calif.

Northern will open its home schedule Dec. 10 with an Ohio Athletic Conference tilt with Heidelberg at 7:30 pm at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears will also travel to area-rival Wittenberg for a non-conference contest on Dec. 3 in addition to its double round-robin OAC slate.

Ohio Northern posted a 15-12 overall record in 2007-08 and finished fourth in the OAC with a 10-8 mark.
