What is your major and what are your plans after graduation? My major is athletic training, and I plan to go to physical therapy school. I’m not exactly sure where I want to go yet. At the beginning of the year, what were some of your team goals and individual goals? The team goals that we have had for a few years now have been to with the OAC and then go on to play in the NCAA Championship. Right now it’s looking like we have a shot but we’ll have to stay on the path we’re on. Individually, I just try to get better each year. Instead of staying the same or going backwards, it’s important to keep making progress. What will it take for your team to win the OAC Championship? If we play consistently and bring our game every time we can definitely do it. Talk about head coach Mark Batman’s coaching style. He gives us the guidelines in which to play, but then he gives us the freedom to play also. We get to play our own game, and we’re successful when we follow his guidelines. What areas of your game have you most improved on in the last four years? I’d say probably my confidence in knowing what to do in the net. I’ve also improved on high balls. Who would you consider some of your role models in the athletic world? One of my favorites was Reggie White of the Packers. Brett Favre is another good one. The Packers are the favorite team of my family, and I’ve always like White because of the way kept himself composed. In high school did you do any other activities? I sat the bench on the soccer team. I also played basketball and ran track for a few years. With the recent Team USA women’s soccer controversy, what is your take on the decision made with Hope Solo? I don’t think she should have come out and said these bad things about her teammate. I thought it was shady how the coach changed the keeper after playing in that many games at that big of a tournament, though. What was your most memorable moment of your trip to Europe this past summer? The whole thing was memorable. The seniors from last year came back so we got to hang out with them. The fact that we got to play over there as a team was the best part. We had all kinds of different memories. What is the best piece of advice you would give an incoming freshman to the soccer program? Come in prepared and have confidence in what you do. Also, make sure you have a good work ethic. What do you like to do in your free time? Hang out with friends and watch the other athletic teams at ONU. I also like scrapbooking. |
