Jan. 12, 2008 By Mike Seem CEDAR FALLS, Iowa The Ohio Northern wrestling team posted a 1-2 record on the first day of the two-day Cliff Kean National Wrestling Duals tournament at Northern Iowa's UNI Dome on Saturday. The Polar Bears (4-6) defeated Saint Olaf (Minn.) 32-9 in between losses to No. 5-ranked Luther (Iowa) and No. 6-ranked Heidelberg. Luther topped ONU 30-10 in the first round and Heidelberg eliminated the Polar Bears 32-15 in the consolation second round. Ohio Northern’s No. 8-renked David Penny continued his impressive season with a 2-0 record at 125 pounds, improving to 18-4 on the season in the process. Freshman Luke Miller earned his team-leading 19th win with a 2-1 mark at 157 pounds, which included a 19-2 technical fall victory over Joesf Waples of St. Olaf. Junior A.J. Coleman, junior Drew Michel and freshman Joe Fisher also went 2-1 on the first day of action. The Polar Bears have been eliminated from the tournament, but may pick up another match or two before returning home to Ada on Sunday. Ohio Northern will return to Ohio Athletic Conference ation Friday at Heidelberg at 7:30 pm at Sieberling Gymnasium in Tiffin.
