By Erin Stapp, Jr, F, Willoughby, Ohio Its day 7 of our trip and we started our morning in a country many people have never even heard of, Liechtenstein. We boarded the bus around 9:30 and headed to the capital of Liechtenstein,Vaduz. Unfortunately today is a holiday for most of Europe which is called National day, this means that every city we visited today was closed except for the restaurants and ice cream shops. The highlight of visiting Liechtenstein was that we actually got to visit it. The country is so small, only about 400,000 people in the entire country. Most of us bought flags and T-shirts from the few souvenir shops that were open. We only spent about 45 minutes in Liechtenstein before we departed for Lugaro, Switzerland. On the way to Lugaro we stopped at a small rest stop where most of us had a small snack and got to stretch our legs. Unfortunately for Amanda, Emily Davies little sister, she left her small bag there with her clothes and ipod, even though it was only minutes after we left that the Davies family remembered that they left the bag we could not go back to retrieve it. About an hour and a half later we reached the city of Lugaro. This small town is a beautiful one. Some friends and I decided to go on a boat tour since all the shops were closed. The boat took us around the inner banks of the Lake and we had beautiful scenery to admire while we got to cruise around. Other girls decided to go swimming and lay out on the beautiful beaches of Lugaro. Some people found it hard to find something to do since the shops were all closed, but overall we all enjoyed our stay in Lugaro very much. Once we finished in Lugaro we then finally started to head towards the most anticipated country, Italy. We arrived in Como, Italy around 5:00 and we had about 45 minutes to spend some time visiting the inner city. There was a small festival going on where we stopped at, mostly for the children of Como, but we decided to see the Lake and just walk After we visited for a bit we then departed for our hotel, Hotel Albavilla, which was located about 20 minutes outside of the inner city of Como. We had about an hour to change, get settled in and then go to dinner which was at our hotel. When we sat down for dinner we were all overwhelmed to finally eat some Italian cuisine. They started our dinner with three cheese pasta, and most of us thought that this was our main dish so we chowed down and some even got seconds. We then learned that the main course was rosemary chicken and potatoes, then came the ice cream for desert. All of the food was amazing and I am pretty sure that most of the girls were very happy to not be eating pork, which was served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Austria and Germany. Later that night we played some cards and just hung out at the hotel for a very relaxing evening, which we all enjoyed very much. We went to bed around eleven and I believe most everyone was happy to be in bed so early. I know all of the girls are really excited to see what is on the plate for tomorrow!! |
