No. 16 Ohio Northern wins annual Ohio Cup tournament

ZOAR — The No. 16-ranked Ohio Northern women's golf team won the annual Ohio Cup tournament Monday afternoon at the Zoar Country Club.

The Polar Bears (46-4) won with 31.5 points, host Malone was second with 28 points, Ohio Dominican was third with 20.5, Tiffin was fourth with 17, Mount Union was fifth with 12 and Northwestern Ohio was sixth with 11.

Sophomore Megan Russell and senior Meagan Brennan led the Polar Bears by finishing 1-2 in the stroke play competition with scores of 38 and 40, respectively.

Senior Amy Gillen and sophomore Kaylea Thresher finished second in the scramble with a 39 and freshmen Ashley Johnson and Lauren Miller finished second with a 48 in the alternate shot.

In the match play portion of the tournament, Johnson, Miller, Brennan ann Thresher all posted victories.

The Polar Bears will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Capital Invitational.
