Oct. 14, 2007 By Gary Petit CHESTERLAND The No. 19 Ohio Northern women’s golf team finished the fall portion of its schedule with a second place finish at the John Carroll Fall Invitational Sunday afternoon. As a team, the Bears carded a 342 on the challenging par-71, 5,945-yard layout. Otterbein nipped ONU with a 340 to take the team title. Host John Carroll finished third with a 376. Senior Meagan Brennan continued her strong fall season with a 79 and tied for first with Amanda Shannon of John Carroll. Shannon won the scorecard playoff to take medalist honors. This was the third time Brennan has tied for first this fall. Her worst finish in five events this season was a tie for third. Sophomore Kaylea Thresher tied her career-best round with a 45-4186. She finished in a tie for seventh. Freshman Mindy Russell picked up a top-10 finish with an 87 and a tie for tenth. Her sister Megan Russell, playing as an individual, finished close behind in a tie for 12th with an 88. Rounding out the Polar Bear scorers was senior Amy Gillen with a round of 90 while sophomore Persha Ford carded a 103. ONU will begin the spring portion of its schedule on Feb. 25 on its annual spring break trip to Orlando, Fla. |
