April 16, 2008 By Gary Petit GRANVILLE The 16th-ranked Ohio Northern women’s golf won its fifth tournament of the year as the Polar Bears carded a 363 en route to winning the Denison Invitational Wednesday afternoon at the Granville Country Club. Host Sophomore Persha Ford continued her solid play as of late, firing an 87 to finish in second. Ford has averaged 88.6 strokes over her last five tournament rounds. Senior Amy Gillen posted her second consecutive round of 90 to finish fourth . She also shot a 90 on Tuesday at the Wittenberg Invitational. Sophomore Megan Russell and freshmen Ashley Johnson and Lauren Miller each carded rounds of 93 to finish in a tie for fifth. Rounding out the Polar Bear scorers was freshman Mindy Russell, who played as an individual, and carded a 95. Baldwin-Wallace senior Molly Scheetz took medalist honors with an 86, one shot ahead of Ford. The Polar Bears will conclude the regular season when they travel to the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational this weekend, April 19-20. Northern will then host the OAC Championships, at the Colonial Golfers Club, one week later on April 26-27.
