DEFIANCE — Five freshmen led the No. 8 Ohio Northern women's golf team to a second place finish at the Defiance Fall Invitational Monday afternoon at the Kettenring Country Club.

ONU rested its upperclassmen in order to give the younger players an opportunity to gain varsity experience.

The Bears were headed by Ellen Hazelet and Lauren Miller's matching 91s on the par-71, 5772-yard layout. Both players finshed tied for fourth.

As a team, Northern finished with a 375 total, 20 shots behind team champion St. Francis (Ind.) at 355.

Mindy Russell finished in the top-ten after carding a 45-49—94 to finish eighth.
