Sept. 1, 2007 By Gary Petit TIFFIN The Ohio Northern women’s cross country team opened the 2007 season with a second place finishat the Tiffin/Heidelberg Invitational Saturday afternoon in Tiffin. The Polar Bears (1-1) finished with 48 points while D-II powerhouse Findlay dominated the competition, finishing first with 18 points. Tiffin rounded out the field in third with 74 points. For Northern, sophomore Rachel Smith led the way with a time of 19:48 over the 5K course for a sixth place finish. Senior Katie Andrzejewski led a host of Polar Bears across the line in 10th through 15th place. Andrzejewski was tenth at 20:10 while freshman Amy Davis was 11th in 20:19. Junior Regina Bresson finished 12th in a time of 20:28 while freshmen Amanda Binkey and Molly Elderbrock finished 13th and 14th respectively in times of 20:32 and 20:35. Junior Erica Rumschlag rounded out the Polar Bear top-seven in 15th place in a time of 20:41. The Polar Bears will be in action next Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Hanover (Ind.) Invitational at 9:30 am.
