ADA — The Ohio Northern men’s cross country team is ranked No. 9 nationally in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll.

The Polar Bears were ranked No. 10 in the final 2007 poll, then finished 17th at the NCAA III Championships last fall.

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s golf team is ranked No. 19 nationally in the Golf World/NGCA preseason poll.

The Polar Bears were ranked No. 14 in the final 2008 poll last spring.

Northern received 83 points in the poll and joins Otterbein as the two Ohio Athletic Conference schools to appear in the poll.

ADA — Former Ohio Northern basketball standout Chad Bostelman is returning to his alma mater to serve as head men’s golf coach and assistant men’s basketball coach.

Bostelman, a 2005 graduate, returns to the Polar Bears after one year as an assistant coach at Ohio Wesleyan and two seasons as a graduate assistant at Heidelberg.

ADA — Former NFL and University of Michigan standout Tyrone Wheatley will serve as an assistant football coach at Ohio Northern for the 2008 season.

Wheatley will coach the Polar Bear running backs this fall as part of the NFL’s Minority Coaching Fellowship program.
