By Tim Glon ADA Senior Micah Scott became the 12th member of Ohio Northern's prestigious 100-Win Club, leading the Polar Bears to an 8-1 non-conference men's tennis victory over area foe Northwestern Ohio Wednesday afternoon at the University Courts. The Polar Bears opened their 2007-08 season with a 1-0 mark, while the Racers fall to 0-2 in their inaugural season. Scott joined senior Bart Schenck at No. 1 doubles to defeat Jason Sarno and William Draur 8-1 for his 100th career victory. He then topped Sarno 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to bring his four year record to 101-39 overall. He is 48-20 in singles and 53-19 in doubles in his career. Schenck won at No. 2 singles, defeating Troy Shroeder 6-2, 6-3. Senior Ryan Paul won 6-0, 6-0 over Evan Carr at No. 3 singles and junior Chris Dohner won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles over William Draur. Junior jay Vaidya topped Taylor Frangie 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and junior Kyle Webb won at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Logan Wyse. Northern won two of the three doubles matches to start the contest. Paul and Dohner downed Carr and Wyse 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles spot. UNO's only victory of the afternoon came at the No. 3 doubles spot, as Frangie and Schroeder topped senior Thomas Major and junior Todd Anderson 8-3. ONU will conclude its fall season Sept. 28-30 at the ITA Regional Championships at Kalamazoo (Mich.) |
