By Mike Seem ADA The Ohio Northern men’s tennis team had a perfect day winning 9-0 over John Carroll Monday in their home and Ohio Athletic Conference openers at the University Courts at Ohio Northern. With the victory Ohio Northern improves to 4-3 (1-0) while John Carroll falls to 0-2 (0-1). Seniors Micah Scott and Bart Schenck improved to 6-1 at No. 1 doubles winning 8-1 and juniors Chris Dohner and Ryan Paul also won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Junior Jay Vaidya and freshman Jeff Carter won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. Scott won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Schenck won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Paul won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. All three players improve to 4-3 in singles competition for the year. Dohner posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Senior Todd Anderson fell behind early losing the first set 6-7 (7-9) at No. 5 singles, but rebounded taking the second set 6-0 and winning the third set 10-8. Junior Kyle Webb won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to complete the shutout. The Polar Bears return to action Wednesday against OAC rival Marrietta at 3:30 p.m. on the University Courts in Ada. |
