Ohio Northern Men's Golf Coaching Staff

Head Coach Anthony Gholson

Former Ohio Northern standout Anthony Gholson is in his second season as head men’s golf coach at Ohio Northern.

Gholson also serves as an assistant men's basketball coach and as a lecturer in the University’s Human Performance and Sport Science department.

He lettered in basketball in 1987 and 1988, helping the Polar Bears to records of 14-12 and 21-9 in those years.

He averaged 11.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in 56 career games, with career highs of 13.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a senior in 1988.

“I’m very excited to return to Ohio Northern,” Gholson said. “We have a tremendous tradition in basketball and have a solid men’s golf program and I will work hard to continue the improvement of both."

Upon his graduation, he served at Ohio Northern in the admissions department in 1989 and 1990 and was the director of student activities from 1991-94.

He was an assistant basketball coach at ONU from 1991-1994, and was on the staff when the Polar Bears won the 1993 national championship.

Gholson then left ONU for Columbus State, where he worked from 1995-2005.

He was the head men’s basketball coach from 2001-04, amassing an 86-36 record.

Gohlson was named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004. His squad won the OCCAC championship and was ranked No. 1 nationally in 2004.

He also served as director of athletics from 2000-05.

As the director of athletics, his men’s golf program won the national championship in 2003.

Education: Gholson graduated from Ohio Northern in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in management and earned his MBA degree from Bowling Green in 1995.

Assistant Coach Scott Richards

Scott Richards is in his second season as an assistant men's golf coach at Ohio Northern

Richards is the head golf pro at Colonial Golfers Club, the home course of the Ohio Northern men's and women's golf teams.

Richards is a Class A member of the Professional Golfers Association since 1988.

An avid teacher of golf, he has led many clinics and group lessons during his career and has given more than 500 individual lessons.

He is a 1992 graduate of Georgia Tech.
